Meeting time is 10.00 AM at Pontypool Leisure Centre Car Park

Riders of all ages and abilities are welcome and further rides will be organised during the Spring / Summer.

Anyone requiring further information please contact Chris Davies at Gwent Cycles 01633 283255

The route for family ride.

The route this week totals just under 42 miles and is never more than 15 miles from Newport, so may be a good opportunity for riders who prefer a shorter distance than the 50/60’s of the last few weeks.

The route, hill profile, and downloadable GPS files are here:

Start at 10:00 on Sunday 1st May at Fourteen Locks Canal Center.

After a tour through Pontypool, Newbridge and Ystrad Mynach we’ll follow one of the easier routes up to Caerphilly mountain Snack Bar. Unfortunately their website is down at the moment, however they do serve a variety of food and drink. Following extensive personal testing their burgers are particularly recommended, hence the title of this ride.

From there we’ll head back to Newport along the country lanes through Rudry and Draethen.

Club Run Sunday 24th April.

After the success of last weeks jaunt to Bryn Bach Park.

Phoenix tours is back.

This week’s club ride is an incursion deep into English territory, to visit the Cotswold town of Chipping Sodbury. The route is mostly “out and back”, though returning through Caldicot rather than the A48.

Start at 9:00 on Sunday 24th April at GWENT CYCLES, 422 Chepstow Rd, Newport, Gwent NP19 8JH.

The expected pace will be around 14-15 mph.

Club Run Sunday 17th April.

imageAn untamed wilderness, ravaged by man and nature over centuries……

That’s enough about Barry Island, that was last week.

This week’s ride is over the archaeologically interesting, bleakly grandiose (and somewhat meteorologic-ally exposed!) Gelligaer Common.

We’ll then head for Bryn Bach park, which is roughly halfway. There is a visitor center in the park so we’ll stop there for coffee etc. The distance is a little over 50 miles, however after leaving the park it is gently downhill virtually all the way back to Newport.

Start at 9:00 on Sunday 17th April at FOURTEEN LOCKS CANAL CENTER.

The pace will once again be very easy so this should be within everyone’s capabilities.

The route, hill profile and GPX files are here….

Hope to see you there! Cheers, Allan
